Helen Stowe Obituary

Helen Louise Stowe, 98, left our world and reunited with her loved ones in Heaven on July 27, 2021.

Helen was born on October 20, 1922, in Inglewood California to Ygnacio Montijo and Edna Coronado. She was a fifth generation Californian and the Great-Great granddaughter of the first Supreme Court Justice Serranus Hastings.

After graduating from high school, she married Robert Martin and in August of 1942 had a son Gerald. The marriage dissolved several years later.

Helen and her young son moved up to Vallejo with family and started working at Mare Island where she worked as one of the "Rosie the Riveters" in the war effort. On one of her trips back to Southern California she was introduced to Warren "Bill" Stowe. They were married in August of 1942 . Their first son Michael was born in 1955, and second son Patrick was born in 1960. The family lived in Napa for the next 30 years.

Helen was very active in her life. She and Warren built their own house, and was very involved in her children's lives in school and outside activities. She was also very active at Emmanuel Lutheran Church for many years.

After Warrens passing in 1998, she met and married Joe Vick and they traveled extensively around the United States and New Zealand.

She is survived by her sons Jerry (Vanda), Michael (Durive), Patrick (Barbara) and stepson Ron (Amber). She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews who loved and appreciated Nana / "Auntie Helen".

A private internment will be at Tulocay Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at Rancho de Napa in Yountville on August 12 at 2:00pm.
