Gregory "Greg" aka Mr. Nissan Compagno

1955—2018

Gregory ‘Greg’ Compagno also known as ‘Mr. Nissan’ passed away on September 29, 2018 in Vallejo, California at the age of 63.

Greg was born on September 28, 1955 in San Francisco, California. After high school, he went off to college and attended San Francisco State. At the age of 20, Greg had taken over the Vallejo Nissan Dealership when his father, Stephen V. Compagno, passed away. He met the love of his life, Kathy at age 14 in high school and married in June of 1979. They soon welcomed their children Stephen and Vanessa into their home and set about teaching them the values of life. His children remember him as a kind, loving and gentle father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Greg loved cars, boating, water skiing, working outside in the yard, fine dining, finding inexpensive flavorful Italian Red Wines, and most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He also loved visiting San Francisco and Hawaii. Greg was a dedicated individual who loved his family and who was passionate about his 42 year long career with the Vallejo Nissan Dealership. He was extremely close with his Nissan family and considered them as family of his own. He was very committed to ensuring that everyone was happy and that they worked together as a successful team. Greg and Kathy had just celebrated their 39th Wedding Anniversary last June. He was an active and dedicated member of the Sons Of Italy, Nissan Dealership Advisory Board, Past President of River Park Association, Native Sons of California and The Elks.

Greg is survived by his wife, Kathy Compagno; children, Stephen Compagno and Vanessa Compagno; mother, Joyce Compagno; brothers, Lou Compagno and Vince Compagno; loving grandson, Anthony; many cousins, family, and friends; and of course his two cats, Toes and Addie.

Greg is preceded in death by his father, Stephen Compagno and stepfather, Walt Schuback.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for October 13, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Tulocay Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Melanoma Research Foundation.
