Grant Clinton Long Sr.

Grant Clinton Long Sr., 81, passed away on May 30, 2026, in Napa, California, the place he had called home for over three decades and the land that gave him some of his greatest joys.

Born on January 3, 1945, in San Mateo, California. 

Grant proudly served his country in the United States Army, completing his service in Korea from 1965 to 1967. Those years shaped him in ways that stayed with him for the rest of his life by instilling a sense of duty, discipline and a deep appreciation for the people around him.

Grant spent his next twenty-five years rooted in the Bay Area, building a career in digital storage sales and, more importantly, building a life. In 1992, he and his beloved wife Mimi packed up their family and made the journey to Napa, trading one chapter for something richer. By 1994, the wine country had captured his spirit and he found his footing in the wine industry - representing multiple wineries over the years with the same warmth and enthusiasm he brought to everything he did.

But it was working alongside his son Grant, at Aonair and Reverie Wines, where he truly found his calling. There, he wasn’t just a salesman, he was a father pouring his heart into his son’s dream, helping him build something lasting. 

To know Grant Long was to be welcomed in. He never met a stranger. In a room full of people, he’d leave knowing everyone’s name, their story and probably their children’s names too. He had a gift for storytelling that could hold a table captive for hours and a laugh that made you lean in closer. He loved generously and loudly. The world was simply a warmer place with him in it.

Just one day before his passing, on May 29, 2026, Grant and Mimi celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Fifty years of partnership, devotion and a love story that never stopped growing. It is a testament to the man he was.

Grant is survived by his devoted wife, Mimi; his son Grant and his wife Megan, and their children Tristan and Adelaide; his daughter Erin Bowman, her husband Chris, and their children Ryker and Ayva; and his daughter Deborah Bright, her spouse Chris, and their sons Garrett and Owen.

He was a grandfather who showed up, not just for the big moments, but for all the quiet ones in between. His grandchildren knew they were loved beyond measure.

Grant Clinton Long Sr. leaves behind a family who adored him, a community that will miss him and a legacy written in every life he touched. May he rest in the peace he so richly deserves.
