Gordon Albert Capurro

On December 30, 2017 Gordon Albert Capurro passed away unexpectedly at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo, California surrounded by his loving family.

Gordon was born on August 1, 1939 in San Francisco to Grace and Albert Capurro. He was the oldest of three children who were raised in South San Francisco. Gordon, Barbara and Howard all attended All Souls Catholic School and as the eldest, Gordon graduated from South San Francisco High school in 1957. It was while in high school that he met his beautiful wife, Judy “Jude” Del Zompo. The two were married on November 11, 1959 and this past November celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.

After graduating high school, Gordon served in the Air Force for four years and upon returning to South San Francisco he worked for Tarantino Produce company from 1962-1979. Judy, Gordon and their three daughters moved to Glen Ellen where he opened Gordon’s Produce which he ran until he retired in 1994.

While living in Glen Ellen he was very involved in the community and served on the Sonoma Boys and Girls Club Board, was a member of the Lions Club, Volunteer Fire Fighter—Glen Ellen, Valley of the Moon Water Board member and was an active member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Sonoma.

He loved the outdoors and one could always find him either gardening, building things or spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Capurro, brother Howard Capurro (Nancy), daughters: Kathleen Capurro Haynes (Michael) of Colorado Springs, Jayne Smith(Tom) of Los Banos, Donna Capurro Cordeiro (John) of Napa, and his beautiful grandchildren: Erica Myers (Justin), Joseph Haynes, Michael Simpson, Pamela Simpson Yost (Paul), Bradley Wallace and Katherine Cordeiro and his great grand children: Gavin, Jasmine, Barrett, Belle, Michael and Audrey. He was pre-deceased by his parents and his sister Barbara Capurro Volpi (Tom).

The family would like to recognize the staff at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo for the amazing care they gave to Gordon and the support they provided to family and friends during his passing.

Services will be held at St. Apollinaris Catholic Church (3700 Lassen Street) in Napa on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 11 a.m.. Reception to follow.
