On October 15, 2022, Glenda passed away after an 8-year affliction with Multiple Myeloma. Her passing was peaceful with her husband Tom holding her hand. There will no funeral services. Glenda's urn is with Tom in their living room.
Glenda was born to her parents, Glenn and Matilda Rossiter in Clinton, IA, on July 24, 1934. Her career began with three years at elementary schools in the Pittsburgh, PA, area. She then went to Germany to teach the children of American military personnel stationed there. Her three years in Regensburg and Munich were filled with many adventures – extensive travel in Europe. She learned to ski and did a lot sidestepping and schussing in the Alps. When the Berlin Wall went up, she decided to return to Pittsburgh.
In 1964, she moved to California to earn her Masters at Stanford, and to be employed as a 3rd grade teacher for the Menlo Park School District.
In 1966, she married Tom Murray of San Carlos, CA. The wedding took place in her parents hometown of Sewickley, a suburb of Pittsburgh. She and Tom purchased a new house in Sunnyvale - before it became the capital of Silicone Valley. The were regular subscribers to the American Conservatory Theater, Palo Alto Players, Theater Works in Mountain View, Sunnyvale Rep. And the San Francisco Symphony, and the Peninsula Symphony at Flint enter in Cupertino. Plus an occasional opera and ballet in The City.
Glenda and Tom retired in the mid-to-late 1980s. In their retirement, they took many cruises: 52!!;
to all the continents, oceans, and on major rivers. They made seven full transits of the Panama Canal.
In 2010, they moved to The Meadows of Napa Valley, a senior retirement community.
A special memory for Glenda was her volunteer service at the Filoli Estate in Woodside, CA.
She was a house, and garden docent for more that 20 years.
