Gary Robert Oliveres, a devoted father, beloved Papa, and lifelong Napa resident, passed away suddenly at his home on August 7, 2025, just five days after celebrating his 63rd birthday. Born on August 2, 1962, at Queen of the Valley Hospital to Robert and Virginia Oliveres, he often joked that he had never lived more than five miles from where he was born. Gary prided himself on being an amateur historian of his hometown.
Gary was a well-respected local contractor, founding Oliveres Construction in 2002 after working for Grassi Construction for many years. Known for his craftsmanship, pride in his work, and dedication to his clients, he built a thriving business and lasting relationships throughout the community.
In his younger years, Gary enjoyed shooting pool and playing darts, ping pong, and poker with his best buds. A die-hard Raiders fan, his home overflowed with memorabilia, and each season he proclaimed, "This is gonna be their year!" More recently, Gary was a local cornhole champion, playing in both the Napa city league and for "4BagzIn", and at every family gathering and camping trip. He loved taking his RV, affectionately named Henrietta, on adventures, and could often be seen riding his e-bike around Napa, including in the downtown Christmas Parade covered in holiday decorations. He once owned a black 1967 Camaro with the plates "OKR8ERZ", a car he cherished for years. His tie-dye shirts, bright yellow smiley-face tees, and Raiders gear made him instantly recognizable around town.
Above all, Gary was most proud of his two beautiful daughters and four grandsons, who loved him very much. He frequently attended his grandson's sporting events, proudly cheering them on from the stands!
Gary was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Virginia Oliveres, sister Kathy Owen, and brother David Owen. He is survived by his brother Steve Owen and sister-in-law Judie Owen, brother Mike Owen, sister Joyce Owen, oldest beautiful daughter Tami McCall and son-in-law Daniel McCall of San Rafael, CA, youngest beautiful daughter Lisa Elliott and son-in-law Jason Elliott of Boulder Creek, CA, four grandsons, Ethan, Tyler, Jack, and Cash, dear friend/ex-wife Jana Stevenson of Napa, CA, and "pretend" beautiful daughter Jamie Perez of Reno, NV. He also leaves behind his adorable cat Tynee, now in the loving care of his best friend Janette Amodeo.
Gary was truly one-of-a-kind, and his humor, generosity, and love for life will be deeply missed by his family, friends, clients, and the entire Napa community.
A Celebration of Life Open House will be held for Gary at the Elks Lodge in Napa on Saturday, September 13th, 2025 from 12pm-4pm, with eulogy and speeches starting at 2pm. All family and friends are welcome and encouraged to wear Raiders (black & silver) or tie-dye clothing in his honor. Location: 2840 Soscol Ave., Napa, CA 94558. A private graveside burial service for family will be held at Tulocay Cemetery that Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Whiskers, Tails & Ferals animal shelter in Napa (https://whiskerstailsandferals.com/donate).
