Gary David Hall, a life-long Napa resident passed away at home on April 1st, 2025 at the age of 87. Known for his infectious smile, timely wit, and memorable one-liners, Gary brought ease, warmth, and laughter to all who knew him.
Born in Napa to Helen (Wakerley) Hall and Kenneth David Hall, Gary grew up surrounded by family, good friends, and the blessing of ready access to the outdoors. He began his career at Standard Oil before teaming up with his beloved wife, Niki (Svendsen) Hall, to establish Hall Glass and Screen. Together, they successfully owned and operated their commercial, residential, and automotive glass business for over 30 years. Through their work and community involvement, including having already established long-standing Napa connections, they formed and continued to maintain lasting friendships.
Gary and Niki shared a remarkable life together, raising three children: Kevin Hall, Kelly Hess (Steve), and Trevor Hall (Justine). Gary was a devoted husband and a supportive father and grandfather who savored spending time with his family and relatives above all else. An avid fisherman, outdoorsman altogether, he found big time joy casting line whenever possible, preferably on a river, and enjoyed sharing his experiences and love for nature/animals with his children and grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Gary's humor was a source for both levity and joy for those around him. He and Niki shared a passion for travel, embarking on many memorable adventures both before and after retirement. In his later years, he still talked about places that he wanted to go see, fish, and explore; the bucket list seemed never-ending. He so loved to cook and will be fondly remembered for putting together many fabulous meals, they together, including amazing salads using lettuce from the beloved garden, his heaven on earth. He could put up olives, jam, smoke meat/salmon, and whatever else with such ease. BBQ'ing was a piece of cake; all cooked to perfection. Gary was always willing to share his creations, finds, and time.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Niki Hall; his daughter Kelly Hess; his son, Trevor Hall; his precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Kenneth George Hall, and his eldest son, Kevin Hall.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude and appreciation to the many friends, family members that provided loving support during this challenging season of change. In lieu of flowers and in memory, Gary's wish was for donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a non-profit close to his/their heart.
