Frank James “Jim” Bishofberger passed away peacefully at UCSF Medical Center after courageously battling heart disease. He was 77 years old.
Jim was born in Antioch to Harry and Florence Bishofberger, and was raised in Brentwood, California. He graduated from Liberty Union High School in 1966 and went on to attend Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1972, Jim moved to Napa, where he began his chiropractic practice. A career that spanned over 50 years and touched the lives of countless patients. He was known for his compassion and genuine kindness.
Jim enjoyed golf with his friends at Napa Valley Country Club, time at the family cabin in Truckee, Disney vacations, playing cribbage, and watching The Godfather.
Jim married the love of his life, Diane, in 1986, after meeting her at the bank where she worked. Together they built a loving family, raising their three children Daniel, Lauren, and Stephen and welcoming two granddaughters, Tatum and Emery, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Jim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diane; his children, Tim, Daniel (Connie), Lauren, and Stephen; his granddaughters, Tatum and Emery; and his sister, Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Florence; his brother, Harry; and his son, Brian.
Jim will be remembered for his kindness, his deep love for his family, his playful humor, and his ability to make everyone feel cared for. His life was rich with friendship, laughter, and service to others, and his absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew him.
Jim’s celebration of life will be held on September 5, 2025, at Tulocay Mortuary at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UCSF Oakland Children’s Hospital, where Tatum received her treatment for leukemia:
