Evelyn Eye Kilgore

Evelyn Eye Kilgore passed away peacefully at her home in Napa on March 25, 2021. She was 95 years old.

Evelyn was born in Dinuba, CA on January 6, 1926, to Harvey and Eva Eye. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1944 and attended U.C. Berkeley. In 1980, she married John Kilgore. Together they were members of the Order of the Eastern Star, and served as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron. Evelyn worked as a bookkeeper in an auditor’s office, and later at the Napa Sanitation District until she retired.

In her free time, she volunteered at Kaiser for over 20 years and made a lot of friends during her time there. Evelyn enjoyed traveling and went to many places both domestically and internationally. She found weightlifting in 2013, and was a world deadlift champion. Evelyn was the oldest person to compete in an officially sanctioned competition, and she was most proud of lifting 93 pounds at the age of 93.

She is survived by her children, Carole and her husband Robert Aguirre of Napa, CA, Jim Wylie and his wife Vickie of Vacaville, CA, and Shirlee Williams of Springville, CA. Evelyn is also survived by her brother Cameron Eye and his wife Barbara, and her 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John Kilgore, her parents Harvey and Eva Eye, and her daughter Lynn Marquez.

A funeral for family and friends will be held at Tulocay Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on April 7, 2021.
