Eileen Farrell Foster, born May 15, 1929 in Winnipeg, Canada and longtime resident of the Springs of Napa, embarked August 4, 2022 on her next adventure. A child of the depression, Eileen grew up playing the piano and loving choir. In her teens, she was singing alto with vocal groups on the vaudeville stages of Winnipeg’s Beacon and Pantages theaters, frequently introduced by a young MC named Monty Hall, who would go on to fame in Hollywood as the host of “The Price is Right”. Eileen loved nothing better than travel, so she made it her business. First, as a young employee of Trans-Canada Air Lines (now Air Canada), then as a travel agent in Chicago, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Finally, in semi-retirement, she specialized in organizing groups of cruise ship travelers. Eileen visited many exotic places around the world long before cell phones or the internet. Travel agents like Eileen prided themselves on being able to provide travel advice based on first-hand knowledge. Among her clients, Eileen made arrangements for numerous celebrities, ranging from the likes of comedian Henny Youngman (“Take my wife. Please!”) to the seventies’ British glam rock band, The Sweet. Eileen’s final decade was spent at the Springs of Napa independent living community where she made many new friends and gained a new lease on life in widowhood. In her final months, she came under the care of Collabria Hospice and the excellent staff of Napa Valley Senior Living, to whom the family is very grateful for their kindness and attentiveness. She was predeceased by her husband, George Foster. She is survived by son John (Jeanine) Farrell and grandchildren Erika, Alexander (Melissa) and Madeleine (Jarrod) Farrell, all of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
