Deanna M. Schmeling

Deanna M. Schmeling 71, passed away at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo on Jan. 20, 2009. Deanna was born in Vallejo on Aug. 24, 1937, to Ike and Molly Passini.  She was a lifelong resident of Napa and a graduate of Napa High School.  After high school, she worked for her father’s beer distributing business as a bookkeeper, later staying home to raise her family.

She met Duane Schmeling in 1954 and they married in 1957.  They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

She spent most of her free time volunteering in her children’s school and was active in their sporting events.  Deanna was loved by her kids’ friends and they often thought of her as a second mom.

Deanna enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and traveling in their RV.  She also enjoyed cooking and was known for her large family dinners.

She is survived by her husband, Duane Schmeling of Napa; daughters Susan Dineen and her husband, John of Napa and Darlene Cozad and her husband, Brian of Sacramento; three grandchildren: Dillon, Maxwell, and Zack; and one great-grandchild, Shiloh.  She was so loved and will be missed and thought of often.
