David Bash Obituary

David Edward Bash, at 70 years old, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on May 26, 2022, due to a heart condition.

David was born on September 14, 1951, at Parks Victory Hospital in Napa California to Walter and Margaret Bash. He graduated from Napa High School in 1969 and then attended Napa Junior College.

David was a hard worker and held down several jobs in his early years but began his long-time career with PacBell in early 1972 where he worked as a lineman and later as a cable splicer for over 35 years. His work took him up telephone poles and down into underground cable runs throughout Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties and Pacific coastal region. Before retiring he enjoyed mentoring the newer ones on the job.

David married Julie Hayes on June 26, 1977, experiencing nearly 45 years together. They raised three wonderful sons.

David was a fisherman, mainly of fresh-water fishing including the Napa River, Berryessa and mountain lakes and rivers. He loved animals-especially his treasured dogs. He was an avid reader, intelligent with a keen interest in history and current events. David was charming and gregarious socially and yet mostly preferred being home, enjoying his family and dogs. With God, he was also an overcomer as he faced some true challenges in life.

David's highest passion was his family. He was a protective, care-taking husband. He loved being a father to his sons and then lovingly embracing his daughter-in-law into his heart as his girl. He was very proud of his kids and loved to brag about his boys. He loved family life whether supporting in academics, sports, holidays, and celebrations of all kinds. Then his greatest joy of family was being a grandpa. A highlight of family life for David was the annual tradition of a camping and fishing trip to Pinecrest. He brought his boyhood family tradition into the next generations thoroughly delighted to share the beauty of the mountains through fishing and being together with family and friends.

David is preceded in death by his father, Walter Bash, mother, Margaret Bash Robinet, and his older brother, Harry Bash all of Napa.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Bash, his three sons, David Bash of Alexandria, Va, Bryan (Rebecca) Bash of Vacaville, Ca, Richard Bash of Napa, Ca; sister Lynn Bowles, brother Brian Bash, sister Meghan Kresge all of Napa Valley, Ca and his four adored grandchildren, Gabriella, Julianna, Barrett, and Hannah.
