Carol Holder

Carol Holder passed peacefully in her sleep on September 26th at the Greenhaven Estates Memory care facility in Sacramento, CA.  She was 88 years old. We all take comfort in knowing that mom was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven by her Lord & Savior as well as her lifelong love, John, her son John, parents, sister Kareen and many loved ones & friends who have left before her.  
 
Carol was born Carol Jean Moore on October 17th, 1935 in French Camp, CA to Eugene & Marie Moore.  She came to Napa in 1940 where she attended Napa schools, graduating from Napa High School in 1953.  On July 19th, 1953, right after graduating from high school, Carol married her high school sweetheart, John Holder.  They were married 67 years at the time of John’s passing, October 10th, 2020.  
 
In addition to raising 4 children and all of the activities that go along with that, Carol worked at the Napa County Board of Realtors and Wells Fargo Bank before her tenure at the Veteran’s Home in Yountville where she worked in Plant Operations, retiring in 1998.  After retirement, Carol volunteered at the Queen of the Valley hospital where she enjoyed working in the gift shop and bringing a ray of sunshine to all she visited. Carol was a long time member of First Christian Church in Napa and later the Yountville Community Church.  She had a love of Christ that shone through her to all she met.  If you were ever standing in line at the grocery store, bank or sporting event, you would have gotten to know her. She could turn any stranger into a friend. 
 
Carol was involved in Napa Faculty wives, enjoyed camping in their trailer and cherished her time with the grandbabies. She & John enjoyed working as camp hosts on the coast until John’s health prevented it.  Carol loved to shop, sew and be on the go.  One of her favorite sayings was “if it’s not fun, don’t do it!”   
 
Carol is survived by her brother Russ Moore, 3 daughters and their families - Jeanne McAuliffe (Rob), Pamela Perkins (Joe) and Nancy Abruzzini (Bruce) as well as 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  
 
A graveside service will be held on October 11th at 11:00 am at Tulocay Cemetery.
