Beverly "Bev" June Hartley, 92, of Napa, CA, passed away from natural causes surrounded by family giving her their love and kisses, whispering their heart-felt words to her.
Bev was born September 7, 1930 in Steelville, MO, on a farm that she loved very much. She shared fond memories of playing behind the counter of her grandmother's store, where she listened to the many conversations of her family and patrons alike, as it also served as a meeting spot where the latest news (and gossip!) got exchanged in her community.
At eight years old, Gillette, WY, became her new home. By high school, she played on an all-girls basketball team called The Pinky Winks, and her love of basketball stayed life-long, when she wasn't busy working at the soda fountain.
In 1947, she moved to Napa, CA to help a relative with a newborn baby, where she soon found employ taking care of the elderly. Within that same year, she married Owen (Bill) McClellin, the father of her four children. The two loved to dance, and when they could, they listened to the big band music from the dance floor of the Dream Bowl. Widowed in 1979, she went with a friend to a dance club, and caught the attention of her second husband, Bill Hartley. They married in 1982, and had a very loving, happy, and active life together with a love of travel, as they visited several countries together before he passed away in 2007.
She lived through many passions; gardening, reading, needlepoint, and the Golden State Warriors. While Stephen Curry was her favorite, she also was a big fan of Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
Twice widowed, Beverly was preceded in death by husband Owen W. McClellin (1979) and husband E. William Hartley (2007) in Napa, CA, and brother Noel Turnbough of Story, WY.
Beverly is survived by her two sons: Bruce Lee McClellin of Madison, WI, and Gary Lynn McClellin of Napa, CA; and two daughters: Janet Kay Francom (Dan) of Napa, CA, and Cathy Jean Carter of Charleston, SC; and step-daugher, Cathy Hartley of Napa, CA. Grandchildren: Steven (Kristine), and Michael (Sonja) McClellin, Daniel (Erica) and Jared Francom, Ryan and Kristina Carter; and great-grandchildren: Konnor McClellin, Katelynn and Brian McClellin, Cade and Theo Carter, and Justin and Braden Francom; along with step-grandchildren: Stevie and Timmy Hartley. She is also survived by her baby brother, Norman Ray Turnbough of Billing, MT, who endearingly called her "Sis." She shared a very close bond and included regular phone conversations filled with laughter. She is also survived by her "third daughter" of her heart, Farrah Garber.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, Oct 25, 2022, at Tulocay Cemetery Chapel. The door will be open at 9:00 a.m. for viewing, with the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. and graveside service immediately following.
The family invites everyone to the reception (2512 Linda Vista Ave.) to share stories and memories to celebrate her, which would undoubtedly be to Beverly's absolute delight. Food and beverages will be served.
A special thanks to Collabria Care Hospice and to each member of Beverly's team who helped her transition to be more comfortable. To Ibania Arellano, your presence through this these last three months has been a balm to Bev and her family's souls.
