Barbara Ann Hohlwein, 87, of Napa, CA, passed away on December 10, 2024. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family and friends.
Barbara was born on December 30, 1936, in Sacramento, CA, to Clyde and Elizabeth Basler. After graduating from high school, she earned her degree in education from Sacramento State University. She moved to Napa in the late 70’s to work for Napa County as an Educator of Special Needs children. She dedicated over 20 years to teaching before retiring.
In retirement, Barbara stayed deeply involved in her community and faith. She was an active member of St. Apollinaris and St. John’s Catholic Churches, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, taught CCD, and participated in Bible study. Barbara also loved reading, playing mahjong, needlepoint, quilting for family and friends, and being part of several book clubs.
Barbara is survived by her two sons, Benjamin Perrin and Raymond Perrin (Dawn) as well as her eight grandchildren: Jennifer Perrin, Keegan Perrin (Lauren), Chelsea Perrin (Philip), Meghan Perrin (Spencer), Darby Perrin, Cassie Kisiel (Nick), Lainey Albrecht (Chad) and Mason Shortridge. Barbara is also survived by two sisters, Cora Basler and Betsy LaHann (Jack) her brother, John Basler (Beth) and her sister-in-law, Diane Leflang, along with many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Elizabeth Basler; her first husband, Gary Perrin; her second husband, Hans Hohlwein; her brother, Marty Basler; and her daughter-in-law, Sherry Perrin.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at St. Apollinaris Church in Napa on January 16th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Molly’s Angels, St. Apollinaris Church or We Care Animal Rescue.
