Ardis Hadden age 98 years, lived in Napa since 1940 and at the same address since 1960. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, September 16th, 2024. Ardis was born to Thomas Wilson Fitt and Mary Draper Fitt in Salt Lake City on March 12th, 1926. She lived in McGill Nevada till 1935 then moved to Ely, Nevada to 1941. The family moved to Napa in 1941 so her father Thomas could work at Mare Island as a Pattern Maker. She was then growing up in the Westwood area of Napa with her Mother and Father. She went to school in the Napa City area and graduated from Napa Senior High School on June 9th, 1944. Then married Robert Joseph Hadden on September 29th, 1951, lived in Berkeley Calif., and had a son Robert Baxter Hadden December 9th, 1955. She divorced Robert Joseph Hadden around 1960 and then moved back to Napa next door to her Mother and Father in a home she purchased in 1960 and lived there raising her son until she passed. Ardis started her career as a Stenographer and typist in the Steno and typing pool at Mare Island, she was promoted to Group Secretary of the Weapons Department at Mare Island working for the head of the Department. She was selected to work in the first computer programming department at Mare Island. She was one of the first computer nerds kind of a pioneer of sorts at the time. She learned to program the large IBM computers using punch cards and massive tape drives. She was promoted to Supervisor of that department and retired from there after 35 years of Government service. She volunteered as a secretary for Boy Scouts Troop 2 for about 5 years and assisted with her time with the DeMolay Brotherhood for her son. Ardis loved to travel logging travel to Europe, Russia, Australia, the African Continent, and many places around the United States. She is preceded by her mother and Father, Sister Joyce Kaye Fitt, and Brother Theodore Wilson Fitt. She is survived by her sister Nancy Solario and her son Robert, Daughter in Law Loree Hadden, Grandchildren Whitney Roberts, Caitlin Hadden, and Jordan Hadden, and two Great Grandchildren Teighan Roberts, and Tracen Roberts and numerous Nieces and Nephews, which she loved dearly. Services will be held on October 8th, 2024, at 11:00 at Tulocay Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cancer Society, Easter Seals, or a charity of your choice in her name.
