In loving memory of our Mom. Anna Maria Williams. Gone to her eternal home in the presence of her Savior at the age of 88, March 18, 2025. Born May 22, 1936 in Oberndorf, Austria.
Anna was raised in poverty due to the circumstances of WWII. Her father was thrown in prison because of his refusal to support the Nazi regime. That left her mother to raise 6 children on her own in a Nazi ruled area. Their home was taken from them and they took what little they had, and traveled by horse and carriage to another village to survive. Many times Mom would tell us how kind the American soldiers were to them during the war. One example was throwing grenades in the river for the fish to float to the top. Prest! Dinner! The Russian soldiers...however were very cold and not helpful.
She came to America by ship with her brother Adi. That was quite the adventure. Her older sister Pauline, had come to America ahead of her. She introduced her to Herbert A. R. Williams, her future husband and married November 30th, 1958. They had three children. Herbert L. Williams, and twins Lucille A. Williams and Fredrick R. Williams. They were married 56 years.
Mom loved nature and hiking and was sure to get the kids out to lakes and streams on family vacations, where they also grew to love the forest. Many a gathering was spent with family and cousins frolicking in the water together. She always had a beautiful garden of roses and flowers and loved to cook and bake for others. Christmas time was especially grand. Her dining table would be covered with assorted cookies and cakes. Her Cranberry cake was a specialty everyone loved.
She was a wonderful mom to her children and wife to her husband. Later in life she surrendered her life to Christ and served him faithfully on everything she did. She was always helping others and reaching out to them in loving kindness. She had a heart for people to know her Savior till the day he called her home. She would tell us she was ready to go home anytime Jesus would call. But until then, that she would do the best that she can.
She is preceded in death by her husband Herb. She was loved by all who knew her and will always be greatly missed.
