Bill worked for the Federal Government at Treasure Island and Mare Island for 35 years, after a stint in the US Army, stationed in Tokyo, Japan.

Bill was married to Mitsu Bain for 64 years.
They met in Tokyo, Japan during the Korean War, where Mitsu was working at a dress boutique shop.  They lived in Japan for six years together and had a daughter, Christine.  Afterwards, they stayed in Chicago for a short year, then ventured to Napa, where they set up a permanent home.  Another addition to the family came when Harold (Mark) was born a few years later.

Bill loved working in his garden, growing tomatoes and other organic vegetables, and giving them out to friends and neighbors.  He could always be seen outside, carefully tending the garden, or just relaxing on the patio.

Bill is survived by his spouse Mitsu, Christine and Stewart Edelman of San Jose, Harold (Mark) and Anne Bain of Palo Alto, and Grandson Joel Edelman of San Jose.
