Slaughter Charlotte Obituary

1928—2018

Charlotte Francis Slaughter a resident of Napa for more than 50 years, peacefully passed away March 28, 2018 at the Napa Valley Care Center at the age of 89. She was born October 9, 1928 to James and Leona Coyle on an Indian reservation in Oklahoma. The 2nd youngest of 5 siblings, 3 of which were raised as migrant farm workers. She, along with her family, worked in the fields picking fruits, vegetables and cotton beginning at a very young age.

In 1965 she married Robert E. Slaughter who agreed to raise her two existing children, Carl and Kathleen, as his own. Together they had two more sons, Robert and William, and raised all 4 children in Napa, CA.

Charlotte had a passion for fishing. We took many fishing trips, with Clear lake and the Klamath River being her favorite fishing destinations. She was also a talented seamstress, handmade doll maker, Avon Lady and an amazing gardener. Many will remember her tomatoes and apple pies from her tree. She and her husband also enjoyed traveling, having toured the entire United States in her beloved RV. She also took several cruises including through the Panama Canal.

In 2003 Charlotte became widowed after her husband of 39 years passed away. Predeceased by her eldest son, Carl Richard Moore; She is survived by her loving children Kathleen M Slaughter of Salem, Oregon, Robert W Slaughter of Wasilla, Alaska and William E Slaughter of Benicia, CA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Morgan Thompson, Justin Thompson, Michelle Slaughter, Casey Slaughter, Christopher Slaughter and her daughter-in-law Diana Slaughter, along with numerous nieces, nephews and two great grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life on Saturday, April 14th at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 1333 Third St, Napa, CA.

The family has suggested memorial contributions may be made to The Table Food Program, c/o First Presbyterian Church, 1333 Third St., Napa, CA 94559.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Tulocay Funeral Home and Cemetery.
