Rose Marie Horst

Rose Marie Horst, 89, passed away peacefully at Queen of the Valley Hospital on May 13, 2018, with family by her side. Rose was born April 20, 1929 in Cheyenne Wyoming and was the eldest of eight children. She met Leonard, her husband of 53 years, in Santa Cruz and they began their life together in Stockton, before later moving to Napa to raise their family.

Through hardship Rose remained a strong, yet nurturing, figure and found her greatest pleasure in life through caring for others. As the eldest of eight kids she spent most of her childhood helping to raise her brothers and sisters before having children, and later grandchildren, of her own. She cared deeply for her children: Her youngest son Doug, who passed at the untimely age of 16; her daughter Anne, with whom she visited weekly; and her older son Philip, whom she raised and supported through a challenging developmental disability.

Rose was deeply committed to her faith in God and the knowledge of her salvation through Jesus Christ. Her faith gave her much peace to know her path would lead her to heaven, where she would be reunited with her departed husband and youngest son.

She is survived by her daughter Anne; son Philip; grandchildren Kelsey, Scott and Ryan; her sisters Mary, Betty, Linda; her brothers David and Richard. Rose was preceded in death by her son Doug; her husband Leonard; her sister Patty and brother Bob.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1226 Salvador Ave., Napa, CA 94558.
