Robert Harold Peacock, ‘Bob’, passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2017 in Yountville, California at the age of 88. He was born in a very small town with a population of only 1,000 people in Soperton, Georgia to Robert Marvin Peacock, Sr. and Minnie Lee Brantley. He graduated from Brewton-Parker Community College with an Associate’s Degree. He then enlisted in the Navy during the Korean War, proudly serving his Country from 1950 – 1954, when he was ‘Honorably discharged.

After his time in the Service, he moved to California where he met and married Dolores Tougas. Together they lived in Northern California and then moved back to Soperton, Georgia, starting their ‘family’ where the first three daughters (Lee, Jean and Tawny) were born. He began his career working with the United States Postal Service. During his time working at the Post Office in Georgia, he was also involved with Gospel music, singing Bass with the Gillis-Henry Gospel Quartet, which was heard over the radio waves. In 1961 the family moved back to California, where his youngest daughter; Susan, was born. Bob worked as a Supervisor in the Los Altos Post Office and retired from the Airmail facility in 1983.

During the next ‘chapter’ of his life, Bob and Merle met, married and moved to Napa, California in 1983. Bob could never be idle so he offered his services to the Volunteer Center of Napa County where he was awarded the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award; was very involved in the Rotary Club serving his community and in addition he worked for Evans Airport Service as a Driver and Tour Guide. Bob and Merle were involved in the early years of the importation, breeding and educating of Alpacas from South America to the public through various sources such as Farmer’s Markets and other special venues over the course of about 13 years.

Bob had a great love of animals, service to others and travel. They traveled extensively during their 34 year marriage to various places such as Argentina, Peru, Guatemala, Canada, France, England, the British Isles, etc. along with several cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska and Mexico.

Bob had many outstanding qualities: he was a Beloved Husband, Loving Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather as well as being a true ‘Southern Gentleman’. He lived his life with honor, integrity and compassion and was a friend to many. He had a ‘heart of Gold’, never had a harsh word to say, was modest and ‘gentle of heart’.

Bob is survived by his wife; Merle Pacey; his daughter, Jean Powell; her daughter, Danielle and son, Roy; his daughter, Tawny Dawe, her husband Chuck and their daughter Kayla; his daughter; Susan Wong and her husband Stan and their daughter Samantha. He is also survived by his brother Robert ‘Bobby’ Peacock, his wife ‘Martha’ and numerous nieces and nephews.
