Welcome to the memorial page for

Richard Lee McDaniel

September 21, 1953 ~ September 9, 2017 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Our beloved Rick McDaniel has embarked on his final Trophy Hunt. He passed away at home the evening of September 9th, 2017 just 12 days shy of his 64th Birthday. Rick was born September 21, 1953 at Parks Victory Hospital in Napa. He attended Westwood Elementary, Ridgeview Jr. High and graduated from Napa High School…Class of 1971.

In 1974, Rick settled into a long and memorable career with Beringer Vineyards where he worked his way from the bottling line into warehouse management. 2015 brought a new adventure for Rick. He retired from Beringer and joined Biagi Brothers for a short time before being diagnosed with Cancer.

Rick was an avid hunter. He enjoyed annual hunting trips with Family & Friends. His favorite being the yearly family trek out to South Creek Outfitters in Utah for monster bucks!

Graeagle, CA was a place Rick loved! He made many memories here and enjoyed the High Country. He also loved his 56 Dodge Truck he aptly named “Red” in memory of his Dad. Rick and “Red” made their way around the Car Show circuit winning awards. Golf was another favored activity and he was known for his short game.

Just after being diagnosed, Rick got to meet his Grandson Wyatt. He loved him immensely and recently got a tattoo of him on his leg.

Rick married the love of his life and ultimate partner in crime, Ruby St. Clair on April 24, 1976 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Rick and Ruby made their life in Angwin from 1978 to 2016. They welcomed son Mitch in 1978 and son Dylan in 1982. Grandson Wyatt joined the pack in 2016.

Although Rick came across as a tough guy, he had a heart of gold. There was a quick wit about him and you were sure to laugh in his company. He was always up for an adventure as long as it wasn't boring! You always knew when you saw Rick and his cousin Jerry together, mischief wasn't far behind.

The list of loved ones Rick leaves behind is LONG. He is survived by his wife Ruby. Sons Mitch (Mayra) and Dylan and Grandchildren Emily and Wyatt. His Mother, Carol Lyons and Step-Mother, Lynda McDaniel. His older Brother Mike McDaniel, Sr. (Kathy) and his younger Sister Cindy Armstrong (Rick). Sister-in-Laws Ruth Gehrke (Jim), Rose Young (Gary) and Brother-in-Law Jim St. Clair (Carol). He also leaves behind many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and Special Friends.

Rick was predeceased by his Father, Red McDaniel and Step-Father Paul Lyons. Mother-in-Law, Hilda St. Clair and Father-in-Law Jim St. Clair. And his very close Cousin, Jerry McDaniel.

A Celebration of Rick's life will take place on Sunday, September 24th, 2017 from 3-6pm at the Napa Moose Lodge, 3275 Browns Valley Road.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Collabria Hospice in Napa.
