Maudine Stephenson Gibson

Maudine was born November 13, 1933 and passed away peacefully October 4, 2017. She was born in Leslie, Arkansas to Jaroah and Ressie Stephenson. She lived there for 2.5 years with her two brothers J.T and Calvin. The family moved to Okemah, Oklahoma in 1936 where her sisters Wanda, Priscilla and brother Charles were born. Maudine fell in love with horses and rode them every chance she got. In 1945, her family moved to Napa, CA where she graduated from Napa High School in 1952. She was a beautiful blonde majorette for the Napa band. After graduation, she joined the United States Navy and married her high school sweetheart, Les Carscadden and they had a son, Steven. Four years later, she was remarried to Don Gibson and subsequently had a daughter Deanna and son Michael. She worked for Napa State Hospital in the Personnel Office where she received a special commendation for her stellar work. Maudine also served as a part time Reserve Officer in the Napa police department in 1977 as the first female armed officer.

She loved visiting Lake Tahoe with her family and sisters Wanda and Priscilla. She also loved to gamble! She and Don moved to Crouch, Idaho until her health declined. She moved back to Napa where her son, Michael took care of her at the Jacks Lane house until she went to live at The Berkshire. The family is grateful for the excellent care from the staff. The family is also thankful for the care from Lacey with Hospice.
