Margaret (Peggy) Hamilton

Margaret (Peggy) Hamilton passed surrounded by the love of her family on May 31, 2017. She was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer in July 2016.

Peggy was born in Sonoma, California, on September 29, 1936, to William and Helen Charland. She graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College as a Registered Nurse in 1957. She retired after 40 years of working in hospitals, mainly Queen of the Valley, and homes. She especially enjoyed her work as an IV Therapist and providing in-home care.

Peggy married Robert Douglas Hamilton on December 16, 1956. They spent 55 years together in Napa raising a family, working and pursuing interests. For 25 years, they square danced with the Buzzsteppers. In 1984, a highlight for them was helping introduce square dancing, through a cultural exchange, to China. She traveled extensively with her husband, family and friends throughout the world. Her hobbies included sewing, reading, gardening, playing Bocce Ball and collecting bronze frogs. She was a member of the Napa Valley Support Services Board of Directors for 30 years, serving as President for over 20 years.

Peggy had a generous heart, feisty manner and was fiercely independent. She loved her family dearly and adored her two grandchildren.

Peggy is survived by her children, Terri Hamilton-Gahart (Jeffrey) and Gregory Hamilton (Susan); grandchildren, Nicole and Taylor Hamilton; nephew, Todd Lallement (Joyanna); grand nephew, Alex Lallement; and grand niece, Alicia. Her parents, husband and daughter, Tracy, predeceased her.

Private internment was held at Tulocay Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, June 16 at 11:00am in the Tulocay Chapel with reception to follow. Casual attire is welcome; her favorite color was blue. Memories and words of sympathy may be sent to the family on-line at www.tulocaycemetery.org.
