KURTIS COBBETT

1960-2015

Kurtis Arthur Cobbett was born Thanksgiving Day, 1960 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  He was adopted at birth by Jack and Marian Cobbett (both deceased).  Kurt died December 26, 2015 in St. Helena, California.

He attended Zumi Elementary School and Albuquerque Academy Jr. High through High School, graduating in 1979. While there  he studied classical guitar and lettered on the swim team. After high school, Kurt briefly worked at his grandfathers lumber yard and hardware store, Ange Builders Supply in Albuquerque. He did a little house framing with his friend Woody and worked for his Uncle Ed doing concrete work. He then headed out to Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York.  On his return to New Mexico he became involved in the wine business which led him to California and a 17 year career at the  Robert Mondavi Winery.

Kurt was "the best brother" to Kim Cobbett and a loving uncle to Kelly Cobbett, whom he adored. He had friends on both coasts and most states in between. Kurt was a gourmet cook and a connoisseur of wine. He was loved and will be greatly missed.

There will be a Gathering of Kurt's friends to celebrate his life, on January 23, 2016 at 2:00pm at the Elks Lodge, 2840 Soscol Ave. Napa.  R.S.V.P. texted  to Connie Ophus at 707.529.5738 would be greatly appreciated.
