1939—2018

John (Joe) Martin Foss, 79, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 after a battle with prostate cancer. He leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Nancy; his son, John Foss of Santa Rosa; his daughter, Suzanne Foss (Kurt Meyers) of Napa, and his beloved grandchildren, Eleanor and Henry; also his sister, Corinne Sharp of Minneapolis, MN.

Adopted son of Dorothy and Helmer Foss of Groton, SD, Joe grew up in a rural community, moved out West and simultaneously went to school and worked many jobs to support his young family. He ended up in the Bay Area and became a successful businessman as founder and President of Foss and Company in San Francisco. The 35 year old company has become the leader in raising funds for affordable housing and historic rehabilitations across the country.

Joe loved golf, travel, his many friends and most of all his loving family. His wicked sense of humor belied a generous heart.
