John Bierylo Obituary

1941—2018

John I Bierylo was born in Cranbury, New Jersey on July 6, 1941 to Ignatz Bierylo and Mary Kaptur Bierylo. John passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on May 20, 2018 of natural causes.

John graduated from Rutgers University, New Brunswick New Jersey Class of 1967. Upon graduation, he joined the US Air Force where he was assigned to several air bases prior to being transferred to Hamilton Field Air Force Base in California as a Finance Officer. At the time of his death, he was employed by Digital Realty Trust in San Francisco while he was actively pursuing his vocation as a grape grower with vineyards in both Napa and Lake Counties in California. John was happiest when he was working in the vineyard or repairing vineyard equipment . He loved working on his eight tractors; both antique and new.

John was a member of the Farm Bureau and Grape Growers Association of both Napa and Lake counties, American Legion Post 1000 SF, Napa Valley and Mariposa/Hunter’s Point Yacht Clubs. He enjoyed traveling, parties and Barbecue Picnics. He was loyal, sincere, hard-working and friendly but not gregarious. He liked listening to anyone interested in talking with him. He was prone to be direct asking questions but obtuse when answering; he was not one to share his opinion. John will be missed by family and friends.

John is predeceased by his parents; sisters Viola Davis, Emily Szuba, Stelle Somers and Victoria Bierylo; and wife Virginia Buccello Bierylo. He is survived by his niece Pamela Delnero (Ed); nephews John Davis and Steven Sommers (Kristina), their families and partner Maxine Maas.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Recreational Boaters of California (RBOC) to Linda Meyers 5723 Cutter Loop Discovery Bay, CA 94505 or to the Grape Growers Association in memory of John.
