Jean Philippe LasseguesApril 1, 1943 ~ December 30, 2017 (age 74)
Jean Philippe Lassegues, 74, passed away on December 30, 2017. Born in San Francisco, he attended Notre Dame de Victoire, St. Ignatius College Preparatory High School, and The University of San Francisco (USF). At USF he received an MS in Chemistry.
He fell in love with teaching after teaching Nursing Chemistry at USF. His next job was teaching at St. Ignatius. He then moved to Napa where he taught Science at Silverado Middle School and Chemistry, Math, and Physics at Vintage High School.
Jean was hard working and had a variety of interests. He worked his way through high school and college. During ten summers he worked on cattle ranches in Montana and had many fascinating stories to tell about his experiences there. Several summers were devoted to getting a 2nd degree black belt in Aikido. He spent many years working second jobs teaching chemistry and Aikido at Napa College.
He was able to retire at 55 and began growing green garlic and French peppers for local restaurants. He thoroughly enjoyed the hard work it took to raise these crops and meeting with and getting to know chefs in the valley.
His Father, Pierre, preceded him in death in 1947 and his mother, Yvonne, in 2002. He leaves a wife of 25 years, Karen and many relatives in France.
