1926-2018
Jane J. Campbell passed away peacefully at her home on September 20, 2018. Jane was born to prominent parents in San Francisco on June 14, 1926. Her family heritage includes Jackson Soda Springs, Chateau Montelena Winery and the 4J cattle ranch in Knights Valley, Calistoga, which drew her family to Napa Valley in 1940. Jane attended Miss Hamlin’s all-girls school (grades 1st thru 8th) and then on to Calistoga High where she graduated. She spent 2 years at Mills College before joining the CPA firm of Seiberlich & Company as a bookkeeper.
She moved from San Francisco to Calistoga at the age of 14, where she met the love of her life and future husband Kenneth Campbell. Ken was a true cowboy and together they shared the joy of horseback riding, raising cattle on their own ranch and attending rodeos and bull sales. Jane was a lover of all animals, which included horses, cows, dogs, racoons, skunks and especially her twenty-six cats. She enjoyed all forms of outdoor sports, including swimming, tennis, badminton and ping-pong. Jane loved to travel with Ken on cruises to various destinations all over the world. She treasured her family, fabulous friendships from college, her lifelong friends in Calistoga and the Sonoma Wings hang gliding club, which she dubbed her “Fly Boys”.
She is survived by her nephews Scott and Todd Andersen and great niece Olivia Andersen in Napa Valley and numerous nieces and nephews throughout the state of Oregon. Jane’s quick wit and wry humor will be missed by all who knew her.
Donations may be made in Jane’s memory at Collabria Care, Napa, CA or Wine Country Animal Lovers, Calistoga, CA. A celebration of Jane’s life will be held at Tulocay Cemetery, Napa, CA on October 6, 2018. Visitation starting at 11:00AM with service beginning at 1:00PM.
