Jaime DeSousa Pacheco Obituary

Jaime DeSousa Pacheco, age 92, sadly left us on March 16, 2024, he lived in Pinole, CA for the last 20 years of his life.

Jaime was born on September 29, 1931, in Cruzal, Saó Jorge, Azores to Jose Pacheco and Itelvina DeSousa.  He had 8 brothers and sisters whom he loved very much.  They all enjoyed their summers together going to a small village off the coast of Saó Jorge called, Faja.

When he was of age, he joined the military and was stationed in Terceira.  Jaime also spent time in Angola, where he enjoyed hunting at night for deer, wild birds, and rabbits with his friends.

In 1963,  his first and only daughter was born, Fernanda DeSousa.  Together they came to California and started their lives.  Jaime’s love for his daughter was unconditional.

In 2004, Jaime married Maria Isabel Fisher.  They have been inseparable ever since.  Isabel and Jaime loved each other very much.  They had a wonderful life together.  They loved to cook, bake,  go to church, garden, go to Portuguese festivals and spend time with their family and friends.  He was most remembered for his lemon cake.  He was always expected to bring to family events.

Jaime also had a strong passion for music.  He played a variety of instruments in his life: the keyboard, accordion, guitar, violin, piano, mandolin and he loved to sing and dance.  The Chamarrita and Baile de Roda were his favorite dances.  Jaime’s eyes would always light up when you spoke of music.

Jaime took great pride in his appearance.  He was always sharply dressed, no matter what he was doing. He always looked his very best.

He is survived by his loving wife Maria Isabel Fisher Pacheco, daughter Fernanda DeSousa Balades, three grandchildren: Marcel, Diego, and Marisa Balades, many cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.  All who knew him will truly miss him and always keep him in our hearts.
