Virginia "Ginny" Zimmerman passed away suddenly from a pulmonary embolism on November 18th. She was born to John and Virginia Smith in San Francisco on June 22, 1955, the youngest of five children. Her parents died when Ginny was very young and she grew up in various foster homes and then with her siblings.  She graduated from Redwood High School in Marin County. She married her best friend and soulmate Bob Zimmerman in 1977 and they had two daughters: Sara and Katie. Ginny was a devoted mother and huge supporter of Bob, a painting contractor and gifted musician and photographer. For years she helped Bob with his business, even climbing the scaffolding and painting beside him.

Her family meant everything to her. Besides raising her wonderful girls, there were always pet dogs in the house. Some of her favorite activities included: long walks with friends and her dogs; Kenny Loggins concerts with the family; spending time at the beach and spotting rainbows. She also loved organizing get togethers on Laurel St. and Christmas caroling on Carol Drive. She had an ever present smile and beautiful green eyes.

Bob passed away at the way too young age of 52 in 2007 and Ginny continued to care for her daughters on her own.  Daughter Katie, a registered nurse, is so thankful that her mom was there to care for her sons Hayden and Hunter while Katie completed her bachelor of science-nursing degree. Ginny was an incredible and loving grammy to the boys.  Daughter Sara lived with Ginny and helped take care of the boys and keep her mom company.

Ginny will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. However, they are comforted by the knowledge that she is reunited with her beloved husband Bob.

The family will have a private celebration of her life. Memorial contributions may be made to The Napa County Animal Shelter to honor Ginny's love of animals. Words of sympathy may be sent to the family on-line at WWW.TULOCAYCEMETERY.ORG.
