Robert Hampel

Napa resident Robert Coe Hampel passed away at the age of 86 on April 13, 2017.

He was born in Denver, Colorado on March 25, 1931 to Robert and Flossie Hampel. During the Depression, the family moved many times to such locations at Kansas City, Albuquerque, Oakland, Napa, Modoc County, Ukiah and Boyes Hot Springs.

He attended Pacific Union College and began teaching. He later obtained his Masters’ Degree and enjoyed 24 years in the Napa Valley School District as a teacher, eventually becoming president of the Napa Valley Educators Association. In addition to his love of teaching, he also spent many years working in such Napa Valley wineries as Inglenook, Franciscan and Grgich Hills.

He and his wife Pat enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world, including the western United States, Canada, Europe, China, Africa, with camping trips to Alaska and the southern United States.

Robert is survived by his wife Pat, of Napa, and his daughters Sharon Siegfried (Richard) of Lodi, CA; Gael Shepherd of Sacramento, CA; and Rachelle Rambo of Sacramento, CA. He also leaves behind his stepdaughters Donna Treleven (Ted) of Rocklin, CA and Denise Bogovich of Folsom, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Keri Duffy (Joseph) of Oklahoma; Erin Shepard of Sacramento, CA; Jon Siegfried of Lodi, CA; Jade Siegfried of Lodi, CA; Joseph Hampel of Lodi, CA; and step-grandson, Hudson Bogovich of Folsom. He was also very proud of his great-grandchildren, Grace Duffy of Oklahoma and Griffin, of Sacramento, CA. Robert’s son Gregory, passed away in 2002.

Private services will be held at Tulocay Cemetery, Napa, CA.
