Welcome to the memorial page for

Norma Jean Baker

July 27, 1937 ~ May 3, 2016 (age 78) 78 Years Old

After a long battle against cancer, Norma Jean Baker passed away on Tuesday, 05/03/2016 at her son Steve’s residents in Roseville, CA. She is survived by her Son, daughter in law Yu Sun, and Grandson Bing Sun of Roseville, CA, Brother Carl Randles Walnut Creek Ohio, and Sister, Mary Jane Roth Gahana Ohio.  She was preceded in death by her spouse William J. Baker of 59 years, Brothers Earl Randles, Owen Randles, and Glenn Randles.

Born and raised in Coshocton Ohio parents Fern and Lloyd Randles on 7/27/1932.  She was the youngest of six siblings and was raised on a family farm.  After graduating high school, she attended Coshocton County Business School and began her career in the Auto Industry handling finance and credit duties.

At the age of 20 she decided to leave Ohio to move to California where her youngest brother Carl was stationed in the Air force at Hamilton Field, Novato CA.  After meeting a great Aunt’s family in Napa, she was invited to move in with them.  She never dreamed that this was the start of Napa becoming her hometown for 63 years.  After getting married and raising a family bowling became her pastime.

Norma with her cute little giggle and beautiful smile made her teammates want to bowl their very best. She enjoyed bowling with the traveling match club and she liked the competition of tournament bowling. She bowled in local, California State, National and many 600 Club Tournaments.

Norma worked hard trying to keep bowling an active sport. She did this by becoming a Napa-Sonoma Women Bowling Assn. director. She always strived to make bowling a better and fair sport. Norma served the Napa Bowlers in many ways by making floats for parades, bowling booths at the Napa Fair, and of course attending numerous California State conventions.

In 2004 Norma was inducted into the Napa-Sonoma Women’s Bowling Associations Hall of Fame. This was truly a highlight in her bowling career.

Along with being a great person, she was a mentor, teammate, a wonderful friend and Mother. We will all miss her beautiful smile, caring personality and that twinkle in her eye. For those of us who had the privileged to know her, we say "thank you, you made our life more enjoyable".
