Keith Louis Bruzzone (87), Napa, joined his wife, parents, and nephew in eternal rest August 3rd, 2017. Keith was the grandson of 1870s and 1880s Italian immigrant families named Bruzzone (Genoa), Mentasi (Lago Maggiore), Mautino (Castella De Monte), and DeLu (Caserella). Keith was born to Louis Charles and Helene Marion (Mautino) Bruzzone on August 7th, 1929 in Oakland, California and attended Emerson Grammar School, Woodrow Wilson Jr High, and Oakland High School. In 1943 the family moved to Castro Valley where Keith attended San Rafael Military Academy for 11th and 12th grades and graduated from Hayward Union High School. Keith attended San Jose State University briefly then enlisted in the United States military serving in Tripoli, and the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Keith met Mary Lou Hastings while both were serving in the military and they were married June 9th, 1952 in St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Grand Forks, ND. Keith and Mary raised their children through years of deployments and moved their young family multiple times across the United States, to Germany, and to England. After honorable retirement from the military at the highest enlisted rank (CMSGT) Keith made his home in Minnesota (1973) then returned to California (1979).

Keith was a member of; the parish of St. Apollinaris of Napa, The American Legion, Napa Moose Lodge, and The Retired Air Force Sergeant Association. Keith was a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and an active volunteer in his community.

Keith is survived by his children; Charles (Carol) Bruzzone of Minnesota, Stephen (Helen) Bruzzone of San Jose, Linda (Ron) Burris of Napa, Deanna (Brendan) O’Donnell of Washington, and Kevin (Melinda) Bruzzone of Washington. He is also survived by grandchildren; Rachel and Daniel Bruzzone, Jenna Bowles, Crista Grech, Adrienne Burris, Caleb Dockter, Tony Bruzzone, and four great grandsons. His brother Leland (Rosalind) Bruzzone of Castro Valley and two nieces also survive him.

Catholic funeral mass – St. Apollinaris, noon and committal reception, Tulocay Funeral Home 411 Coombsville, 2 p.m. Saturday August 12. Family will receive guests at the church one hour before funeral liturgy and requests donations in Keith’s name to Disabled American Veterans or charity of donor choice.
