Jose “Joe” Manaku Rodrigues III of Napa passed away on February 16, 2018. His funeral service will be held Friday, March 2nd at 11:00 am at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa, CA.
Joe was born on the island of Molokai, Hawaii on February 20, 1944. As a boy, he moved to Angwin and graduated from St. Helena High School. He continued his education at Napa Junior College, where he met his future wife Rhuea Ann Wall. Joe and Ann were married on March 25, 1967 and were married 45 years until her death in 2012.
Joe worked as a telephone installation and repairman for AT&T for 37 years. After retiring from the phone company, he worked as a groundskeeper for the school district and helped manage the Memorial Football Stadium. He enjoyed spending time with his family, driving his 1966 Mustang, and watching Napa High football games. He was actively involved in his church for over 40 years, first as a deacon at Carquinez Primitive Baptist church in Napa and then at Glorious Kingdom Primitive Baptist Church in Oakland.
Joe is survived by his children, Lani Gentry and her husband Jason, Leah Dye and her husband Jerry, Aaron Rodrigues and his wife Tiffany, his eight grandchildren, Emily and Lizzie Gentry, Tyler and Taylor Dye, Charlie, Ella, Lena and Miles Rodrigues, his sisters Ululani Aaabann and Clorinda Tanaka, and other family and friends.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Rhuea Ann Wall Rodrigues, his parents, Jose Manaku Rodrigues II and Lizzie Keli’iliki Rodrigues, his siblings, Wilna Rodrigues Keahi and Gary Wayne Rodrigues, and his son, Stephen Michael Rodrigues.
