Jackie Rauch Obituary

1932—2018

Jackie Juanita Green Rauch 86 years filled with love, family, and laughter came to a peaceful end on January 8, 2018 for Jackie Juanita Green Rauch. Jackie was born in the small town of Wewoka, Oklahoma to Walter and Vera Green on January 1, 1932 at the height of the great depression. Jackie’s brother Jerry joined the family two years later. Seeking a better life for their family, the Greens moved around the United States including New Mexico, Washington, and Texas.

When Jackie was 9 the family moved to Napa. At 14 Jackie started worked at Bertains Laundry, where she would sneak kisses while folding sheets with the boy who would become the love of her life-Charlie ‘Bud’ Rauch. Jackie graduated from Napa High in June 1949, and married Bud two weeks later.

Bud and Jackie were married for 35 years. Their son Steve was born in 1950, and daughter Shirley in 1952. Bud joined the Napa Fire Department in 1958. Jackie proudly supported Bud as a ‘Firemen’s Frau’ (wives of the firefighters). During these years the family developed a passion for camping with friends and family that Jackie would enjoy for many years.

With a great head for numbers, Jackie also worked as a bookkeeper for many local businesses including local doctors, Heid & Heid Engineering, and the Napa Valley Realtors Association.

The great heartbreak of her life was losing Bud much too young in 1984. However Jackie was able to enjoy many years of travel, including trips to Europe and China. She continued camping as long as she could, happiest by the campfire with a brandy in her hand and her five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren surrounding her.

Jackie fought valiantly for the last 13 years of her life the Alzheimer’s Disease that would eventually take her independence. Her family is grateful for the loving care she received from the staff at The Meadows Memory Care unit, and Stayman Estates—Arcadia.

Jackie will be deeply missed by her family including brother Jerry Green, son Steven (Tina) Rauch, daughter Shirley Clauss, grandchildren Seana Wagner, Amber (Tom) Longacre, James (Brionna) Rauch, Christina (Anthony) Azzarello, Stacy Andrews, and 12 great grandchildren.

The family will remember Jackie with a special camping trip, no public memorial will be held. Memorial donations can be made to the California State Parks Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association.
