FRANCESCA MACERI

1930-2016

Francesca Maceri, 86, died April 17, 2016 after a short illness.  She was born March 15, 1930 in Macari, Sicily to Pietro and Margerita Ruggirello.  She was the oldest of ten children and played an instrumental part in helping raise and care for all of them.  Although she had little  formal education, she worked as a midwife assistant in Sicily and loved to pierce babies’ ears with her gentle hands.

At the age of 26 she married her one and only true love, Salvatore Maceri September 15, 1956.  They moved to Napa in 1966 to be close to family.

Francesca was a guardian angel to all who needed her and always gave selflessly with a cheerful smile and a twinkle in her eye.  She was a faithful helper and loved her family.  Everyone who met her was naturally drawn to her kind, loving, sweet beautiful spirit and a heart of gold. Francesca loved company and always had coffee and treats ready.  She was a very brave, wise, intelligent woman. After her husband passed away, Francesca worked at Ruffino’s restaurant for 15 years.

She is survived by three brothers and one sister and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be so deeply missed, but will forever live in our hearts.

Mass will be said on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 10am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.  Viewing will be at Tulocay Funeral Home Wednesday, April 20 from 1-5pm and Thursday, April 21 from 1-8pm with the Rosary prayed at 7pm.  Memories and words of sympathy may be shared with the family on-line at www.tulocaycemetery.org.
