Frances Dennis McGuire

August 12, 1940 ~ August 3, 2015 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Frances Dennis McGuire, 74, passed away August 3, 2015 after a brief illness.  A long time resident of Napa, he was born August 12, 1940 in Columbus, Georgia.   Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Connie McGuire, two children, Steve and Shae McGuire, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, all of Napa.

Dennis entered the Navy at the young age of 17 in which he shortly there after, at the age of 21 met the love of his life, Connie Marie Day.  Dennis served over 20 years encompassing the Vietnam War and the birth of their two children.  Upon retirement from the Navy, Dennis and his family moved to Napa in 1976 where he then went to work for Mare Island Naval shipyard for the next 15 years.

In the 1980’s Dennis along with his wife Connie became involved with country-dance creating the Travelin Four with their good friends Don & Arlene Grass as “Make Mine Country”.  He was well known for the variety of dance styles he taught such as W/C Swing, Line Dancing, Ball Room, Country and Night Club Two Step.  Dennis attended, competed, taught or DJ’d for many decades leading to friends spanning throughout the United States as well as Canada.

In 2000, Dennis joined Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) and started competing in Cowboy Action competition shooting under the given name “Predator” which brought out the inner cowboy in this young at heart Georgia boy.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed camping with friends and family, dirt bike riding, golfing, backpacking and fishing but most of all, simply going to the movies with the love of his life.

Dennis continued to teach dance up until the very last days!  Through music, dance, competitive shooting and teaching, Dennis touched thousands of lives as well as made countless friends.

You will truly be missed by all Papa!!
