Floyd Orr

February 13, 1931 ~ September 20, 2016 (age 85) 85 Years Old

On September 20th, 2016, the Lord welcomed Floyd Keith Orr into his loving arms. Keith was dedicated to his family and lifted the spirits of everyone who knew him. He was a devoted church member and his faith was a guiding force in all aspects of his life. Keith was born in Oshkosh, Nebraska on February 13, 1931. Floyd and Clara Orr raised Keith and his brother, Dale, in farming communities in Nebraska and Idaho. The hard work ethic he lived by came from many years of working on his family farm. After being a four-sport athlete at Kimberly High School, he continued to play football and basketball while he attended Idaho State University. He graduated in 1953 with a degree in Physical Education and went on to serve his country in Korea for 2 years. He married Doris Mae Shearer in 1952. He earned his masters degree in Education from Oregon State University. After starting his teaching career in Caldwell, Idaho, in 1958 Keith and Doris moved to Napa and he began teaching and coaching at Silverado Jr. High. He took his talents to Napa High School soon after where he taught PE, coached football, boys and girls basketball, and track until his retirement in 1998. Keith coached at the Jr. College level and refereed football to keep his love of sports alive. He couldn’t leave the students behind and continued to substitute teach until Spring of 2016. “Coach Orr” touched the lives of thousands of students and athletes. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris Orr, daughters, Terri Orr(Dan), Tammi Stanley (Graydon), Tisha Dehaven (Martin), son Todd Orr (Diana), grandchildren, Graham, Jordan, Kyle, Holly, Danielle, Scott, Mark; brother, Dale Orr (JoAnn), numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24th, 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Napa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations or memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Napa.
