Ezequiel (Zeke) Meza Perez

March 31, 1926 ~ January 26, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old


Beloved father and brother, Zeke Perez died on January 26th after a short illness.  He was born on March 31, 1926, in Flagstaff Arizona to Lucio and Magdalena Perez.

 Zeke’s family moved from Arizona to the Napa Valley, to the town of Yountville in 1935.  The family then moved to the town of St. Helena in 1942, where Zeke resided until his passing.  He graduated from Napa High and then served in the US Navy during WWII.  Zeke worked for over 30 years at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, where he started as a pipe fitter apprentice and finished his career as a shop planner.  After Zeke retired he spent his time working in the family’s vineyards.  He also spent time volunteering for the Comite Mexicano de Beneficencia, a burial society his father helped start in 1935.

 Zeke is survived by his brothers Dave, Jesse, Ralph, sisters Enriqueta and Alice, sons Rick, Cio, Anthony, Eddie, and daughter Lynn, including many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

 The family is having a celebration of Zeke’s life on Saturday, February 25th, from 2 to 5 PM at the Grace Episcopal Church hall located at 1314 Spring Street in St. Helena. Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.tulocaycemetery.org
