Esther Torres

Esther Torres was born February 19, 1936, in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Emilio and Leonor Tollens. She died peacefully with her loving family by her side on April 14, 2016.

Esther had a heart of gold and was always loving and generous. She had a great sense of humor and did everything with a bit of sass. She was a hard working and devoted mother and grandmother who was very proud of her entire family and her Puerto Rican heritage.  Esther also spent 20 years working as a drug and alcohol counselor for the County of Napa. She helped many people on their journey to recovery.  She was well known and loved by all the people whose lives she touched. Esther also loved to open her home to friends and family.  She loved to cook and was well known for her beautiful wedding cakes and famous Puerto Rican dinners. She will be greatly missed.

Esther is survived by her husband of 28 years, Daniel Barrera; daughters, Maria Lopez (Devin Shurleff), Tanya Torres (Corey Dyer); sons, Carlos Torres (Jennifer Dalm) and Marshall Jenkins; granddaughters, Michelle Lopez (James Miller), Nicole Benavidez, Jessica Jenkins; grandson, Samuel Dalm Torres; and great granddaughter, Dominica Lopez.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martita Torres and granddaughter, Christina Lopez. The family would like to give a special thanks to Kaiser Hospice and her caregivers, Lelia Roper and Raquel Munoz, for their love and devotion.

A celebration to honor her life will be held in the Tulocay Chapel on Sunday, April 24 at 12 pm.  Memories and words of sympathy may be shared with the family on-line at www.tulocaycemetery.org.
