Welcome to the memorial page for

Eleanor Sheehe

March 26, 1922 ~ November 22, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Eleanor Sheehe was born March 26, 1922, passed away peacefully at her home in Napa, California on November 22, 2017. Eleanor was vibrant, active, and independent up until her very last day—she volunteered often, attended church weekly, and spent time with friends and family as much as possible. Eleanor lived fully during her 95 years, but more than any single story or accomplishment, she cherished her family, her faith, and her community.

Eleanor was born and raised in Shelby, Ohio where she attended grammar school, graduated valedictorian of Shelby High School and went on to college. Ever social, Eleanor was the president of her sorority, started the local Family YMCA, and volunteered for many charities and organizations. After marrying her late husband Richard “Dick” Sheehe Sr. in 1948, the two started a family, having three sons (Steve, Scott, and Richard Jr.) and a daughter (Carol Euser). Eventually the family relocated to San Bernardino, California where Eleanor began an outside sales job for Home Interiors & Gifts. She was eventually honored as top salesperson in the nation for the company.

Once their children were grown, Eleanor and Dick traveled the world, and through their travels Eleanor continued to add to her impressive collection of vintage salt dips (also known as salt cellars). In true Eleanor fashion, she shared her passion with others and created something truly one-of-a-kind. In 1996, Eleanor and Dick made their final move to Napa. Their neighborhood proved to be a special one, and Eleanor felt truly blessed to have known her neighbors. Eleanor would want to give special thanks to her next-door neighbor Nick Jennison for all he did for her since Dick passed in 2007.

Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband Richard Sheehe Sr. and son Stephen Sheehe. She is survived by Stephen’s wife Patty Sheehe, son Scott Sheehe and his wife Rose, son Richard Sheehe Jr., and daughter Carol Euser and her husband John. Eleanor is also survived by her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service and reception will take place at 3:00pm on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Napa (3521 Linda Vista Ave). In lieu of flowers, please honor Eleanor by donating to a charity or cause of your choosing.

Eleanor would want to reinforce her love of God and the importance of service. Eleanor dutifully hung her flag each morning and retrieved it every night before sundown, and she approached everything in life with that same kind of commitment and respect. She will be missed so dearly, but her legacy will live on and on.
