Welcome to the memorial page for

Edward H. Stohsner

December 5, 1931 ~ March 31, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Ed passed away after a brief battle with cancer. He left this world with the same dignity and strength with which he lead his life. Edward Stohsner was born in Napa, a second generation Napan. He attended Napa High School where he met his future wife, June Doris Argens, in his history class during his junior year.

After attending Napa Community College, Ed went to work in his father’s business, Stohsner Machine Works, where they specialized in iron fabrication. Ed traveled the country visiting job sites and building the business for the company. After his father’s retirement, Ed continued to lead and build the business until the early 1970’s. One of Ed’s prized accomplishments was his participation in the development and building of the Vallejo Yacht  Club. As the economy deteriorated during the early 1970’s, Ed closed the business and eventually purchased Martin Business Equipment in Napa. Ed realized computers were beginning to emerge in the small corporate world, and he partnered with Boroughs Computers, one of the early adapters in the field. Ed was also involved in Napa politics, serving on the Napa Planning Commission during the ‘60s and ‘70s.

After his family, Ed's greatest love was his boat - The Magic Isle. He and his family spent many memorable days on the delta, especially in his favorite area known as Steamboat Slough. He and his family formed so many warm and fabulous friendships and memories of good times: waterskiing, hosting friends for weekends and enjoying cocktail parties up and down the slough with their boating neighbors. Ed was a life-long member of the Vallejo Yacht Club as well as a member of the St. Francis Yacht Club of San Francisco.

All who had the pleasure of knowing Ed will sorely miss him. He was a true gentleman to the end. He was blessed to have his grandchildren by his side upon his passing.

Ed is preceded in death by his loving wife, June, and son, Matthew. He leaves behind his daughter, Diana Egkan (Gary) and devoted and loving grandchildren, Christina and Justin Egkan.

A memorial will be held in his honor April 21st, 11:00 a.m. - Stohsner Gravesite – Tulocay Cemetery, Napa, CA

Contributions are welcome in Edward's name to the Vallejo Yacht Club, 485 Mare Island Way, Vallejo 94590 or Collabria Hospice, 414 S. Jefferson St. Napa, 94559
