Donna McCarthy

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Donna Marie McCarthy passed away at home peacefully at the age of 65. Donna was born on October 2, 1951 in Bremerton, WA to her parents, Chester and Margaret Adkison. She was born into a large and loving family and raised in Napa. She attended West Park Elementary, Redwood Jr. High and graduated from Napa High in 1969. Donna went on to work at the Veterans Home in Yountville where she worked until retirement. She was extremely proud of her 30 years of service and often spoke fondly of the residents and her coworkers whom she thought of as a part of her extended family.

Donna was a true giver and loved by all who knew her. She cherished her faith and held a strong belief in the Lord. She was always full of life and held a great affinity for gardening, adventure and the great outdoors. As an avid reader she liked to relax in the sunshine and enjoy a good book. Donna cherished spending time with her friends, family and especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and could rarely be seen without her dog "Moose".

Donna was preceded in death by her husband Joe of 24 years. She is survived by her brother, Chet (Linda) Adkison of Canby, OR. Two sisters, Peggy (Robert) Roberson of Napa and Deborah (Bob) Phillips of Vallejo. Her children; Ed McWhorter III of Napa, Robert Krull of Napa, Penny Thompson of Vallejo, Chris Daniels of Napa, Joe McCarthy of Vacaville, Polly Lyle of Napa, Angie Atkins of Clarksville, AR and Billy Lyle of Clarksville, AR and 21 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.

We were blessed by her love and touched by her gentle soul. Our beloved Mother, friend and family member will be dearly missed. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held in her memory on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa.
