Welcome to the memorial page for

Dale F. de Beauclair

October 25, 1943 ~ July 13, 2017 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Losing a year-long battle with cancer last Thursday, Dale passed away peacefully with his wife by his side. Dale faced his disease, as he did everything in life, with courage, grace and determination, but even his quiet strength wasn’t enough to beat the cancer.
Dale was born in Detroit and lived there until the age of 5. After his father, William de Beauclair, died, his mother, Maryhelen (Hunkele), moved the household to California. They settled in with Aunts Rae and Margaret in East Palo Alto and remained in the community through childhood and their young adult years.
High School and the first two years of college for Dale were spent in the Seminary at St. Joseph’s College in Mountain View. Dale then transferred to the University of Santa Clara to complete his education.
Dale spent his early years in Retail, followed by years managing assets for a private investment group. He then became a partner in Le Club, an exclusive French Restaurant atop Nob Hill. After selling the restaurant in 1992, Dale moved to Napa where he found a new home, a new career with The O’Brien Group, and eventually, his wife Darlene (Ferrero). His career with The O’Brien Group spanned over 10 years and many successful new home developments in the North Bay, including the Napa Yacht Club and Washington Park in Yountville. After semi-retiring in 2004, Dale remained active in the Napa Real Estate market.
Dale met Darlene in Yountville in 1997, when her parents purchased a home at Washington Park. Having married in 2003, the couple lived in Napa until last June, when they moved to Yountville, planning to celebrate retirement. Twenty fun filled years together went by way too fast; it was truly a love story.
Dale was a kind, gentle, loving soul, with a wonderful sense of humor and a zest for life. He was known for his megawatt smile, which could light up a room.He enjoyed Golf, Pickleball, walking and exercise, the San Francisco Giants and loved to travel. He and Darlene always tried to incorporate Giants road games into their travel plans, visiting other ballparks.
Never did Dale meet a person he wasn’t interested in and he was a loyal friend to many. He was a loving, devoted husband and soulmate, son, brother, nephew and uncle. Not to mention a great cousin to literally dozens. He will be missed by many.
Dale was preceded in death by both parents, brother Gary and many loving aunts and uncles. In addition to his wife, Dale leaves behind his brother Alan, Sister-in-law Sondra de Beauclair, Aunts Joanne Harrington and Phyllis Hunkele, Uncle Don Holman, Nieces Lisa (Brad) Berger, Diane (Curtis) McKinney and Amanda Ferrero, Great Nephew Andrew Berger, Great Niece Lyla Ferrero and a host of in-laws. Dale was fortunate to have many cousins, all surviving and living throughout the U.S.
All of you who knew Dale realize that we have lost a one in a million, light up your life kind of guy. He will be loved forever and missed always. We are all fortunate to have had Dale in our lives, if only for a short time.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Yountville on Tuesday, 7/25 at 11:00 a.m. Dale has requested donations to a favorite charity in lieu of flowers. Words of sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.tulocaycemetery.org. Questions, Tulocay, 707-252-4727.
