I have fond memories of cruising Jefferson in Charlie's Camaro. We would go up to the Soda Hole on hot days in the summer and hang out. Charlie was a good man but lots of guys were jealous of him because he was a favorite of the ladies. Charlie always had the best 8 track tapes and we always fought for the front seat of his car. When we got bored we would convoy in our cars to Main Street in Walnut Creek or 4th Street in Santa Rosa. Sometimes we would raise a little hell but Charlie was always a lover and not a fighter and smartly stayed out of any trouble.
Charlie is probably in heaven cruising with Lisa Von Uhlit and Marc Boretto. I am sure he has a pretty awesome ride.

I was sad to hear of Charlie's passing. He was such a nice person. I first met Charlie from taking piano lessons from Pat Wagner. He played the piano beautifully. Later in our teens, we were both friends of Lisa Von Uhlit's. One evening, Lisa and I were cruising with Charlie in his Camaro, and we stopped to talk with other friends on Jefferson Street. I took off my shoes and, unbeknown to me, Lisa put a shoe in one of the velocity stacks of Charlie's car. As we were getting back in the car, he said I could drive, so I got into the driver's seat. I can still picture it now...we were driving north on Jefferson and all of a sudden, the accelerator stuck wide open. The only thing I could think to do was steop down on the accelerator, and we saw something fly out of the velocity stack and it was, of course, my shoe! Charlie was pretty calm, but I was not, and we all had quite a laugh about it later. Thanks for some great memories, Charlie. RIP.

I first met Charlie at Lincoln school. He was the funniest guy. I haven't seen him since school and I'm sorry for that. I know he'll be missed.

I was 16 when I became a first time Auntie. We called my nephew Charles Vincent Tremewan and he was always Chuck to me. We lost my sister, his mother, in 1963 just 3 months before Chuck's 4th birthday. We kept in touch with him through his dad and later, his step-mother Darlene, as he grew up. His mother's whole family came to his high school graduation in 1977. Over the years Chuck and I exchanged letters, cards, emails, pictures and a few telephone calls with some visits to see him in Napa. We grew close through these exchanges. He was always interested in his mother's family and I tried to fill him in on a lot of details. When I saw in 2015, I had some of his late Grandpa Bob's (Lt.Cmdr.Robert Steele) certificates and books that his step-grandmother (Lola Steele Gibson) had given me. I gave these to him and he later wrote and called them "treasures" and he found out that his grandpa Bob had been a Radioman in the Navy and was thrilled to realize that perhaps his own love of electronics and radios came from that member of the family. He felt close to me because I was a link to his late mother and I reminded him of her. I am thankful for his father and his step-mother Darlene and their families for loving him so much and bringing him up to adulthood and always being there for him. I am extremely grateful for his beautiful and loving wife Lourdes. With her he found the peace and love he had been searching for. I am so thankful for the care and love he received from her and the home and family of animals they adopted together. He got such pleasure from all of them! I will miss my nephew! I love you Chuck!
