Bela Szabo

Bela Tibor Szabo, age 77, of Napa died at Queen of the Valley Hospital on January 13, 2017 of Interstitial Lung Disease. Bela is survived by a son, Jonathan Hughes of Orange Co, CA and daughter, Natasa Lara Szabo of Campbell, CA, as well as step daughter, Erika Barnes, and step sons, Gordon Barnes, Ryan Barnes, and Ian Barnes of Sonoma Co, CA. Bela resided with his partner of 4 years, Norma J. Neil. Bela was born in Budapest, Hungary on May 19, 1939 and left during the 1956 uprising against the Russian occupation. Bela lived in England for 3 years awaiting emigration to the USA. He enlisted in the Army gaining quicker access to citizenship. Bela continued his education and earned a Masters Degree in Science. He found a spiritual home at Napa Valley Unitarian Universalist fellowship. Bela had a questioning mind and read topics of great interest to him. A memorial service is planned for a later date.
