Arthur Reynolds

Aurthur ‘Lew’ Reynolds age 92 passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, May 18, 2017.

He was surrounded by family members, care givers and hospice workers, also Charles a faithfull and compassionate care giver from Cora’s Home care.

Lew Reynolds was born in Pierce City, MO to Aurthur Doud Reynolds and Willie Olive ‘ollie’ Strayer Reynolds on March 27, 1925. He was the youngest of 7 children. He was predeceased by his brother, Lloyd Reynolds; sister, Gertrude Brownlee; brother, Cecil Reynolds; sister, Fern Bryden; brother, Richard Reynolds; and brother, Milt ‘Bill’ Reynolds.

He is survived by his wife, of 66 years, Elizabeth ‘Dolly’ Reynolds; daughter, Deborah and son-in-law Scott Winchell; son, Daniel and daughter-in-law Brenda Reynolds.

Lew greatly enjoyed his grandchildren that included Reanna Whitman and husband Kenny, Katie Winchell and husband Erik, Kyle Winchell and Natalie, Colette Reynolds and Richard Reynolds. He also was informed before his passing of a great grandchild soon to be. Congratulations Katie and Erik!

Lew was a WWII Veteran and served in the U.S. Coast Guard at Pearl Harbor Hawaii. He was a motorman on several small boats, his main job was taking military doctors out to incoming ships at the harbor. The doctors became well acquainted with the boat crew and did not mind if the crew wore just their swim trunks. On one such outing they were passing a ship with a full compliment of sailors in dress uniform, as they looked up none other than the President Franklin Delano Roosevelt snapped them an informal salute as they passed by!

Lew worked for the telephone company for 37 years. he retired in 1983 and enjoyed a long retirement.

Lew loved sports especially softball. In Napa he played for the City league, Native Sons and Cal-Nap and the old mens league.

Lew was also an avid horseshoe pitcher and a great bowler with his telephone company friends!

One of his great passions was camping and especially fishing. He took his family on many memorable trips across the country seeing friends and family that made an indelible impression on all his family.

A private immediate family only interment will follow on June 12, at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
