With solemn hearts, we honor the memory of Susan Louise Freeland, who departed from us on March 24, 2024, leaving behind a profound legacy in the hearts of those who knew her throughout the Napa Valley community.
Born on March 27, 1954, Susan's journey began in New York City, but it was in the serene landscapes of California where she found her true sense of belonging. At San Jose State University, her pursuit of knowledge was driven by an authentic passion.
In Woodside, CA, Susan's life took a significant turn when she met Daniel Freeland, her lifelong companion. Their journey together, marked by their union in marriage in June 1982, blossomed into a family filled with warmth and affection.
As an accomplished accounting professional, Susan established her own business, Crockett Bookkeeping and Tax Services, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to her craft. In 1994, she relocated to Napa, where she continued to flourish in her career, earning the trust and admiration of her clients throughout the Napa Valley. Susan's professionalism and innate ability to connect with people endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Susan found immense joy in hosting gatherings in her home, where she warmly welcomed friends and family. Her selflessness and unwavering love extended to her children, whom she cherished dearly, and to her role as a devoted grandmother.
Susan is preceded in death by her father, George Paula, father-in-law, George Freeland, brother-in-law, Michael Freeland, and nieces Mia Freeland and Christina Eisler. She is survived by her mother, Leila Guymon (Ralph), sister Lori Eisler, husband Dan Freeland, children Sarah Caldwell (Dave), Darrell Freeland, Chris Freeland (Parker), Stephen Freeland, Bonnie Pellegrino (Daniel), and 11 adored grandchildren.
A memorial service to honor Susan's life will be held at Tulocay in Napa, CA, on April 11, 2024, at 11 am.
